Revelation 19 – I’m in the Lord’s Army

What is the outcome of our salvation in Christ Jesus going to be? Will we be lounging on clouds playing harps? Will we be stuck in a repetitive worship service loop, something like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day? The Bible teaches that we will be ruling and reigning with Christ as kings and priests.

Sermon Notes

Summary:

This will be the first time there has been any indication of the church on the earth since chapter 3. This chapter begins with more worship in the throne room of heaven, much like chapters 4 and 5, but this time it is in celebration of the Lord setting things straight on earth. Following that celebration will be the most blessed banquet man will ever know. It’s known as the marriage supper of the Lamb; the official presentation of the Church to the Lord, clothed in “fine linen, bright and clean.” Surprisingly, this fine linen also turns out to be our battle suit as we join the Lord in His second coming. The first time He came 2000 years ago as a lamb to be a sacrifice for His church. In His second coming He will be the lion of the tribe of Judah (Rev 5:5), and we will be with Him!

Key Points/Questions:

  • We know how a bride makes herself beautiful for her groom here on earth, but how do we make ourselves beautiful for Christ at the marriage supper of the Lamb?
  • What is the key theme of prophecy in Scripture?
  • What are some other verses in Scripture that cause us to understand that the “armies” in verse 14 are the church?
  • What does this knowledge encourage you to do?
